Thailand Travel 2: First Days in Koh Samui

I would like to focus more on our experience from the north and east of Koh Samui in this post. We chose these places because they are not so crowded as e.g. Chaweng or Lamai.

Mae Nam and Lipa Noi = Our Escape Paradise

The day we arrived to Koh Samui was a rainy day. After check-in in our resort - Escape Beach Resort on Mae Nam, we took the opportunity to explore surroundings. This area is rather calmer than Chaweng. The sea is deep however bit darker because of the sand. We also had a massage in one of the studios (one of the best I have ever had). I think you can't get wrong with any of the studios.

We rent a motorbike the next day and went to Lipa Noi on the other side of the island. This beach is beautiful and is famous for the Nikki Beach resort and its fabulous brunch on Sunday which needs to be booked in advance due to popularity. We came during the week and we were surprised how empty this place was. Coffee was great. The place does not only look luxurious however the prices correspond... But why not to get spoiled sometimes? :-) Especially on holidays. We spent the day on the beach on the sofas of the resort Big John Seafood Restaurant which I can recommend if you want to save money. :)

The rest of days in Koh Samui we spent in our resort because the difference between beach there and in Lipa Noi was minimal. Moreover, our resort was beautiful and we paid extra for the better villa which I can also recommend - little treat is a fresh plate of fruits you get every day.

We kept the motorbike since the resort (as the name says) is a hidden place and it is quite far from the main road (moreover - you need to manage a hill). If we wanted to escape we just took the motorbike and in few minutes we were close to shops and restaurants.

Fisherman's Village

There are many restaurants in Fisherman's Village. I can recommend the Fisherman House Cafe which is also a hotel. They serve good quality food. Order from their Thai tapas menu if you want to taste more in little portions :) You can sip fresh mango juice or enjoy really Thai coffee - strong and sweet thanks to the condensed milk. They serve the dish in very stylish way.

Other place we found nice but quite expensive was the GreenLight & Cafe - organic restaurant. I ordered kombucha and green bowl and my boyfriend had fresh juice and sea bass in banana leaf.

There is also a street food market in the evening which is very good but mostly touristy.
